1999 Toshiba is the first air conditioning manufacturer to launch a full range of split-system units purpose-designed for use with non-ozone depleting refrigerants, thus reducing the impact of air conditioning on the environment.
2000 Toshiba installed the first air conditioning control system with Internet access.
2003 Toshiba launches first ultra high-efficiency split with 4-phase indoor air purification system to the European market.

Toshiba Air Conditioning Takes Shape

Based on American products, Toshiba made its first air conditioning units, and introduced improvements throughout the 1950s. By 1961, they were able to introduce the world's first split units. Its new role as innovator, continued with the introduction of Japan's first rotary compressor in 1968.By the 1970s, Toshiba had arrived as a modern multinational company, with a varied product portfolio and world-wide manufacturing sites. In 1978 the name Toshiba Corporation was formally adopted, at the same time as the first computerized compressor units were being introduced. Further advances included the world's first inverter unit in 1981and the world's first gas fired inverter and twin rotary compressor in 1988.
